Summer Dining in Blackheath: Discover The Clarendon’s New Menu

Eating out should feel easy. Somewhere that works just as well for a light lunch, a proper dinner, or an evening of sharing plates with friends, without you having to think too hard about it.

That’s exactly what our new summer menu at The Clarendon is designed for: fresh seasonal flavours, comforting favourites, and plenty of reasons to slow down and make more of your afternoon or evening in Blackheath.

A Day Out Comes With Its Own Appetite

Whether you’ve spent the morning browsing the independent shops and cafés of Blackheath Village, walked the length of Greenwich Park, or climbed the hill to the Royal Observatory and dropped by the Cutty Sark, by the time you’re ready to sit down, The Meridian Restaurant is right there waiting – open to hotel guests and non-residents alike.

What you order depends on how the day’s gone. For something lighter, there’s grilled green asparagus, a warm goat’s cheese salad, or a chargrilled chicken Caesar at lunchtime. Fancy fresh but still satisfying? Grilled Scottish salmon or sea bass fits the bill.

If all that walking has worked up a proper appetite, that’s when a roasted English lamb rump, steak frites, fish and chips, or one of our burgers starts sounding right.

Or skip the sit-down altogether. The Made for Sharing side of the menu is built for exactly that – a few good dishes for the table, something to drink, and the freedom to keep things informal. It works well for a relaxed lunch, drinks with friends, or an early evening bite when everyone would rather pick at a few different dishes than order separately.

Whichever way you go, make sure to leave a little room at the end! The Piña Colada Pineapple Carpaccio with coconut ice cream brings a fresh, tropical finish, while the Bramley apple and raspberry crumble tart is there for anyone who prefers something more comforting. You may arrive insisting on two courses, but dessert has a habit of changing minds.

Turn Dinner Into a Stay at The Clarendon

The simplest way to stop watching the clock over dinner is to take the journey home out of the equation altogether.

With our Dinner, Bed & Breakfast rate, you get a three-course à la carte dinner, a night at The Clarendon, and an English breakfast the next morning – no checking train times halfway through dessert, no deciding who’s driving, and no cutting the evening short.

Planning a Sunday visit? Our Sunday Stay & Dine offer does something similar for two: a three-course dinner in The Meridian Restaurant, an overnight stay in one of our Double rooms, and a Full English before you head off – a good way to stretch a Sunday evening a little longer before Monday catches up with you.

From fresh seasonal dishes to comforting favourites and tempting desserts, our summer menu gives you plenty of reasons to make your next meal one to look forward to.
