Planning a conference is a bit like conducting an orchestra. There are so many moving parts – the right space, working equipment, refreshments arriving exactly when people need a break, and a team behind you making sure it all comes together seamlessly.
The venue you choose sets the tone for the whole day. It should help your delegates settle in properly, keep them focused, and hopefully make them enjoy the time they spend together. And for you as the organiser? It should make your job feel less like herding cats and more like something you can actually manage.
That’s where The Clarendon comes in. Set in Blackheath Village, we offer flexible conference rooms, thoughtful catering, and a team who genuinely knows what they’re doing when it comes to business events. We’re close enough to central London for easy access, but far enough away to feel like a proper escape from the usual city-centre chaos. Delegates arrive somewhere calmer, which usually means they focus better and stay engaged for longer.
Flexible conference rooms for events of every size
Every business event needs a space that feels right – not too big that it swallows the group, not too small that everyone’s on top of each other. At The Clarendon, we’ve got options to suit whatever you’re planning, whether it’s a quiet interview, a board meeting, a full training day, or a larger company gathering.
Each of our conference rooms has its own character, with flexible layouts, plenty of natural daylight, and all the practical bits you need for a productive day. Our conference team is here to help you pick the space that’ll work best for your event.
The Westcombe Park Suite is our biggest and most versatile space, comfortably hosting up to 100 delegates. It also has an adjoining lounge, which is brilliant for giving people somewhere separate to grab refreshments, carry on conversations, or just have a proper breather between sessions. Nobody wants to feel trapped in one room all day.
The Regency Suite is bright, welcoming, and absolutely filled with natural daylight – which makes a real difference during a long day. It seats up to 60 delegates and comes with access to a private patio, so people can step outside for fresh air when they need it. Perfect for conferences, seminars, and training days where a change of scenery keeps everyone sharp.
The Heathview Suite is our quieter option for smaller conferences, workshops, and team meetings. The views across Blackheath give the room a lovely sense of space, and there’s something about looking out over the common that helps focused discussions feel less intense.
The Boardroom is for up to 10 people and works beautifully for interviews, leadership meetings, and those conversations where you need discretion and concentration. It’s professional without feeling stuffy.
Set beside the open heath and close to the cafés, restaurants and character of Blackheath Village, The Clarendon gives delegates space to arrive, settle in and focus. Greenwich is nearby, and central London remains within easy reach, making the hotel convenient for people travelling from across the city while offering a more relaxed environment for the event.
Catering that keeps the day moving
Conferences live or die by the food. Good catering can turn a long day into an enjoyable one, and well-timed refreshments give delegates that natural excuse to pause, chat, and come back to the room ready to engage again.
At The Clarendon, we plan catering around the rhythm of your event. Tea, coffee, fruit juice and pastries on arrival to welcome everyone in. Mid-morning refreshments to keep energy up. Then lunch prepared by our in-house team.
Our working lunch (£19 per person) offers focaccias, salads, fresh fruit and tea or coffee – proper food that doesn’t send everyone into an afternoon slump. If you want something more substantial, our hot buffet (£26 per person) has plenty of choice, including vegetarian and vegan options, plus dessert.
Everything’s served at the hotel, so delegates can enjoy a proper break without having to head out to find lunch. Less disruption, fewer suppliers for you to manage, and more time to focus on what actually matters – the people in the room.
Practical support from the moment you arrive
A good event should feel easy for the organiser as much as the delegates. We know how much work goes into planning these days, and our job is to make yours smoother.
Every conference room comes with Wi-Fi, a flip chart, marker pens, writing pads, and pens as standard. Need projectors, screens, microphones, or PA equipment? We’ve got those too. Our conference team will set up the room to your chosen layout, check everything’s working before delegates arrive, and stay on hand throughout the day.
Last-minute seating change? We’ve got you. Refreshments need to appear at a slightly different time? Done. Having an experienced team nearby means you can concentrate on running your event, not troubleshooting details behind the scenes.
Stay a little longer
For delegates travelling from outside London, or events that continue into the evening, having accommodation in the same place can make the whole experience feel much easier. The Clarendon has comfortable bedrooms available at reduced corporate rates, so guests can settle in after the final session without arranging additional travel across the city.
An evening meal can also be added to the schedule, with three-course dining available in the Meridian Restaurant from £29 per person. It’s a simple way to extend the day, continue conversations in a more relaxed setting and give colleagues or clients time to connect beyond the meeting room.
Plan your next conference at The Clarendon
Conference venues can feel a bit soulless. Bright meeting rooms and thoughtful catering matter, but so does the atmosphere – and that’s often where places fall short.
The Clarendon brings the practical facilities you need together with warmth and character that make delegates actually enjoy being here. Comfortable accommodation, bright meeting rooms, good food, and the open surroundings of Blackheath – all within easy reach of central London.
Whether you’re planning a private board meeting, a training day, or a larger conference, we’re here to help you create an event that feels organised, welcoming, and easy for everyone to attend.
