THE
MANAGER'S RECOMMENDED TOUR
The Clarendon Hotel offers easy access to the world's
most historic square mile - Greenwich and the World Heritage
sites.
More
World significant history has been made here than any
other place on the globe, from Royalty and Palaces, Naval
and Marine power, unequalled scientific achievement, to
the largest Empire the world has known.
Take a stroll across Blackheath into Royal Greenwich Park,
where King Henry VIII once hunted deer. Take in the breathtaking
Palaces and gardens, the Royal Deer Park and panoramic
views across London.
Visit the Royal Observatory, National Maritime Museum
and Queen's House. Recently opened to visitors, you can
now walk around the Old Royal Naval College (now the University)
and visit the spectacular Painted Hall and chapel. (All
for free!)
Adjacent to the College is the magnificent Cutty Sark,
last surviving tea clipper from the golden age of sail.
Greenwich
town centre is also home to world's only fan Museum, the
parish church of Saint Alfrege and Gypsy Moth IV, Sir
Francis Chichester's lone around the world yacht.
Other popular attractions within Greenwich are the amazing
Thames Barrier, Eltham Palace and Gardens, another of
King Henry VIII's luxurious Tudor Palaces, and Firepower,
a new attraction that opened in May 2001 which narrates
and displays the history of artillery and the Woolwich
Arsenal.
Whilst in Greenwich a visit to the food, craft and antiques
markets is a must.
If you happen to visit Greenwich on a Sunday you might
just see me rowing on the Thames with The Globe Rowing
Club.
